A project by Ang Ying Jia
An exploration of popular gate colors in HDB housing flats in Choa Chu Kang, Singapore. The title of the project, Stacked Colors, refers to how HDBs are layered and stacked on top of one another to solve the country's issue of land shortage.
Data
Data collected is visualized using a treemap chart that consists of nested rectangles proportional to the specified percentage and numbers of various gate colors collected from 174 flat units from 4 HDB blocks.
Artefact
The code artefact features randomized rectangles that resemble HDB flat gates with the colors and layout of the visualized treemap chart.
The physical artefact is a collection of 1:12.5 scale models of a standard 4x7 feet HDB gate. The design and patterns of the gate models are derived from the outcomes of the code artefact.
